Tiinesmann Week 9-10 (The illness update)

Limitations

[ I didn't manage to get very much work done due to being mostly confined to my bed with illness, and unable to use most softwares when I was feeling up to working thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown. My graphics card also died, meaning UE4 refused to work. ]

*BUG* Mon; For some reason the task list isn't updating. It just flickers between the first and second task presets. This worked fine the last time I opened it and hasn't been edited, so god knows what the cause is.

Wed; After everything I tried to do to fix the bug (including completely remaking the task list blueprints, setting the task and subtasks as editable integers that get updated on button presses in widgets etc) I gave up and reverted back to an older version of the project. Luckily, since I've been stuck on this bug for days, I've not lost *too much* progress. *BUG*

Task progress

I added a box model to the level. This is invisible upon starting the level and becomes visible through a visibility toggle when the task text is updated.

Once the player has completed the first task they are directed to go tell their mom, who will then tell them to pick up the box and take it to their room.

Sound

All sounds are now implemented in the game with the exceptions of the magic sounds. This is due to the current limitations and uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Scope

At the moment I do not have enough information to make a decision on whether my current scope for this project needs to be changed. There is talk of extensions and of deferrals and, if this is the case, the project scope will not be negatively affected (and may even be increased as a result). There will hopefully be an update on this by my next blog entry, along with many pretty pictures and the possibility of a playable alpha build with the first few tasks implemented.
